Proceed through the steps in "EFS/Persist Backup" ( ) as usual.įor the "Repartition" steps ( ), step 2, you need to go to "Advanced" > "ADB Sideload" on your device, then proceed with the sideload, and the following "adb shell" and "modify" command. Instead of proceeding to the LineageOS custom recovery specified in the next stepĪnd substitute it for the LineageOS IMG in this step. Proceed with unlocking yur device bootloader as specified in "Unlocking the bootloader" section of the official wiki here: Step by step for those who stumble on this thread sometime in the future, here's what I did in the end: I've now managed to get it working, you basically substitute the LineageOS recovery image for TWRP and proceed from there with some slight changes in the names of the steps. Many thanks to /u/joacmc for pointing the way!
Fastboot flash recovery nexus 7 android#
I'm running the last available version of Android for this tablet (6.0.1 - MOB30X) with its associated recovery image. "dd: /dev/block/mmcblk0p2: Permission denied"Īlso, when I select "Recovery" in the boot options I see the Android on its back for a minute then it simply boots back into Android itself. I tried to do this in advance but on the "EFS/Persis Backup" steps, but the commands tell me: If I had to guess I'd think I'd need to repartition the filesystem to increase the recovery's space but the re-partition is a later step, after performing a backup of the modems. I have the latest version of fastboot (and adb) from the link on Lineage's wiki( ). I've tried all of the recent versions of the recovery image for flox from the LineageOS website ( ) but predictably all return the same error. I can get to step 5 of "Installing a custom recovery using fastboot" (named "Flash recovery onto your device") before I encounter problems, the error I get from fastboot is: I read through the instructions ( ) and it all seemed relatively straightforward, so I began. I have tablet above and was overjoyed to hear from a recent AndroidPolice article that I can now give it a new lease of life with Lineage so I thought I'd give it a bash.
